Hey everyone! Today I made a master lists of formal dresses! At my college #formalszn is right around the corner so I thought this would be helpful. I know dresses can add up, especially if you're going to more than one formal, so I found 15 dresses under $100. Some of these are actually priced that low and some are on sale. All of these are short dresses because from my experience most sororities only have one long dress formal every four years. I actually might post a collection of long dresses later just to help people out if they are still looking for one. I am wearing a romper that I got from boohoo last semester to my formal. It isn't in this collection, but be expecting a post on that in the next couple of weeks! I also have done another formal outfit options post that included the dress I wore so my semi formal so make sure you check that out! I have linked everything at the very bottom, so just click on the picture of the dress to shop.
Hey everyone! So today I looked at my calendar and realized I only have a month of school left!! I'm pumped because it means only one more month of exams and stress and also one more month left in my freshman dorm. Don't get me wrong, I love my dorm, but I am excited to move out because it means I get to move into my first apartment!!!! Y'all I'm seriously so excited!! I am sharing a 4 bedroom apartment with 7 other girls (ik crazy right) and we've just recently started planning out what furniture and stuff we want. I decided to show y'all the vibes I'm going for in my part of my room. I can't wait to see how it actually turns out.
I want to blend southern and bohemian vibes to get my room decor! Not all of these things I've shown here will go in my bedroom. The cow hide rug and welcome mat will be elsewhere in the apartment. We've already started a turquoise theme with the furniture we got for the living room so I would really like to also incorporate that in my room. I thought the turquoise picture frames from TJ Maxx were super cute. I also am thinking that I'm going to use my pillows as a way to have the bohemian influence. I really want them to have a pop of color to contrast the rest of my neutral decor. Also, while I don't know what pieces from this collage specifically will actually make it into my room, I really want the double cactus murals to be there somewhere (I'm obsessed)! I hope this was interesting to anyone who is redecorating their apartment or just moving into one, like me!I will 100% be posting more as I buy apartment decor over the summer.
Last Saturday I woke up at 4 am and drove several hours to a sunrise hike. It was cold, exhausting, and challenging, but one of my favorite memories from this semester so far. Our group of 7 decided to make the early morning trip to see a beautiful sunrise, explore some cool caves, and eat a good breakfast. While it was too cloudy for a spectacular sunrise, the other two goals of our trip definitely lived up to our expectations. Enchanted Rock is a massive pink, granite rock near Fredericksburg, Texas. Once we climbed to the top and froze while waiting a sunrise that never happened, we decided to go explore the caves around the edges of the rocks. They were a little too narrow and confining for my taste, but still really cool to see. We then drove in the Fredericksburg, which is known for its German ancestry, and ate a great german breakfast (#GGB)! Here are some pictures we took along the way! Photo creds to everyone who was there because I have no idea whose took which picture!

In college Halloween is more than one night, its an entire weekend. Here are all the different costumes I wore!
Old Mia Thermopolis vs New Mia thermopolis
On Wednesday night I took one of my best friends to my sororities Halloween date event. We dressed up as Anne Hathaway before and after her transformation in Princess Diaries 1. I love how this turned out. We wore my friend's old school uniforms and then she curled her hair and wore glasses, while I straightened my hair and wore a tiara!
On Thursday night I was only out for about 40 minutes because I had a test the next morning. I didn't put a whole lot of effort into my outfit, which is why I went as the most basic thing: a cat. I wore leggings and a black top. Then did cat makeup with a red lip and put on some cat ears.
On Saturday I dressed up as an Alien with one of my best friends. The glitter on my face is a little different then the Alien makeup I showed in my lsat blog post. However, I am wearing the same lipstick which is linked in that post! I also wore my hair half-up-half-down, but instead of leaving the top part in a pony tail I made it into two space buns (kinda hard to see in the picture, but it looks just like my friend's hair).
So that's it for my Halloweekend outfits! I hope you all had a great Halloween too!
LOOK 1: Deer MAkeup
This look has been super popular on instagram and Pinterest so I thought I would try and recreate it! Definitely the most difficult of the two looks but I still think it turned out pretty well. Watch the video to see how I did it!
Look 2: Alien Makeup
Super easy to recreate. You could even add more by putting some glitter on your chest, arms or face too! Watch the video to see how I did it!
My college has a tradition where all the fraternity boys ask girls to drive up to Dallas and see the Texas-OU game with them. Its so much fun and I was really glad I got to go this year. Part of the tradition is that when you're a freshman you paint your date a cooler. I know a lot of schools make fraternity coolers for all different occasions but this is when I made mine! I found all my ideas on Pinterest which was super helpful.
Step 1: Sand and Prime
I sanded down all sides of my cooler so that the paint would stick. Then I used a spray primer and covered everything I would be painting. I think it's a lot quicker to use spray primer then try and hand paint primer on all sides.
Step 2: Paint
I spray painted the background and then went over the top and did the details in acrylic paint. I copied all the sides from pinterest, so my inspiration in on the left and my actual cooler is on the right.

Step 3: Seal
This step is super important because you don't want your paint to start chipping off and look bad. There are all kinds of paint sealers but what I found to be super easy is to take modge podge and paint on two layers to all the sides you painted. Modge Podge starts off white but dries totally clear. Just make sure you put and even layer on all sides, because if there is more modge podge in one area it will look a little different than the rest.
Hope you found this helpful!
Hey everyone! I know a lot of schools delayed rush is coming up plus spring rush so I thought I would show what I learned during fall recruitment when it comes to what people wear! Keep in mind every school does it differently! At mine the first round (open house) we were given a tshirt to wear but then after that it was up to you. Each day gets progressively dressier, and then our final round we had to wear all black! Just make sure to look up your schools guidelines about what to wear because they will differ from mine. Also I solely chose outfits for these collages based off how they look. The website I used has a lot of name brand items to pick from so thats why you'll see some more expensive items, because I didn't have any other options. You by no means have to wear name brand items during rush. If it's cute and makes you feel confident that is all that matters! Hope this helps! Again everyone has their own opinions on what to wear for rush, this is just mine!
So I skipped over open house because all you could wear was a t-shirt they gave you, but for the next round its day dresses and wedges or flats. Definitely no heels. I noticed that a lot of girls picked more dressy day dresses as opposed to t-shirt dresses. My main advice is pick something that is a fun color or has a fun silhouette to make you stand out!
The next round gets dressier, fun party dresses w wedges or heels. Don't wear flats or sandals this round. This is to show your fun side so spaghetti straps are okay, but remember you're trying to impress girls not boys. Again one of these dresses is like $500 but that's not why I picked it! It's a fun patterned party dress that you could easily find something similar to for under $100 at a local boutique.
Final round is preference night! This is when you wear cocktail dresses (in my case all black). No wedges just heels! Wear some fun statement earrings to add some drama to your look!
Currently spending a Thursday night in sick and, as I'm listening to girls run up and down the hall getting ready to go out (bc the weekend really starts on Thursday in college), I started to think about all the strange things college life brings. A lot of these seem normal now since I've been here for over a month but trust me every freshman has those 'wtf' moments in the begining. A month might not seem like a while but since you can't retreat and hide in the comfort of your home anymore you adjust fast, real fast.
Weird Thing #1: College kids don't go out until late. Like real late.
I get texts from various fraternity socials publicizing the bar they've rented out or the party at their house that evening and at the end of every text it says "starts @ 11:45". 11:45?! My curfew for the majority of high school was midnight. Like 11:45 is when things winded down for me not just started up! After one of the first football games some of my friends and I thought we were going to roll into the victory party fashionably late. Like we even sat around and did nothing so that we could show up later. We shoot for 10:40. The party probably started at 10 right? So 40 minutes is enough time for it to get started and be in full swing by the time we get there. We show up and the bouncer won't even let us in because the party didn't actually start until 11. Yep that's right. We were 20 minutes EARLY... So all I can say is build your stamina, learn to like coffee, and don't take any classes before 10 am because college brings some late nights
Weird Thing #2: You will miss your parents
My last few months at home were spent being suffocated by last minute advice and mandatory family time from my parents. I thought I would it would be different but that I would never be longing for those moments back. Now, I can't believe how much I miss my parents. I even told girls during the first couple rounds of rush "I don't think I'll go home that much, I want to establish my life on campus first" and now I've seen my parents weekly since I left. The first several visits were them dropping off stuff I forgot but lately its been dinners, conversations about our lives, and trips home for a quick hour. I'm very fortunate because I'm going to college in my hometown so my parents are very accessible. I still find myself surprised by how excited I get when they text me and say they are on their way. You have no idea how much your parents mean in your life until you can't see them everyday.
Weird Thing#3: Dressing up for class means wearing a tennis skirt
This might be just applicable to my college, but NO ONE dresses up for class. Not even like jeans and a top. Just nike shorts, t-shirts, and even on occasion pajamas. However, if you want to impress a boy in one of your classes or something a lot of girls dress up their outfit by wearing a tennis skirt instead of nike shorts. Yes that's right tennis skirts are so freaking trendy. Something I thought only soccer moms who wanted to look athletic but really weren't wore. And the worst part is they are so freaking cute. I can't believe we didn't wear them in high school! Have to say they make you're legs look great and I definitely will be investing in a few.
Weird Thing #4: Shacking
Had to include this one because like what?? I don't even feel old enough to be a high school graduate but now we're all spending the night with boys and awkwardly darting back into our dorms at 10am the next day. When you come to college and have the experience riding up the elevator with someone just coming home from the night before don't judge them. In your mind you might be thinking "that could never be me" but one day whether your just coming back from an unexpected sleepover at your best friend's dorm (me) or you actually shacked you'll hate all those 'mhmm' looks that other girls give you.
Hey everyone! One huge part of going to a big southern school is football season! I've posted what I wore for the first two games of the season as well as another outfit that I think would be really cute. Our colors are burnt orange and white, but because its hard to look good in all orange I mostly wear white! Also cute accessories are a must, I usually shop on etsy to find cute beaded necklaces or chokers in my school's colors.

Here's another outfit I would totally wear. If you're not huge on your school colors like me then show them in your accessories like my necklaces in the pictures above or the bag down below!
